  20.      I have Icon running very well on some VAX/VMS systems.
  21.      Now there is a new architecture called Alpha or AXP.
  22.      Compaq/Dec has a tool called VEST which interprets
  23.      the VAX executable. This works for many programs.
  24.      But when I tried it with ICONT.EXE or ICONX.EXE there
  25.      were errors and version mismatches with libraries.
  26.  
  27.      Next I just tried to rebuild it since we have a
  28.      development system. But on Alpha the compiler is
  29.      DEC-C instead of VAX-c and there differences.
  30.      Such as DEC-c does not initialze variables automatically
  31.      as VAX-c did. There were very many compile errors.
  32.      My knowledge of C falls way short of debugging it.
  33.  
  34.      Is anyone else looking at migrating to the Alpha/VMS
  35.      environment? Or many used a different set of flags
  36.      for the VEST translation that worked?
