Subject: Icon for Alpha/VMS

I have Icon running very well on some VAX/VMS systems.
Now there is a new architecture called Alpha or AXP.
Compaq/Dec has a tool called VEST which interprets
the VAX executable. This works for many programs.
But when I tried it with ICONT.EXE or ICONX.EXE there
were errors and version mismatches with libraries.
Next I just tried to rebuild it since we have a
development system. But on Alpha the compiler is
DEC-C instead of VAX-c and there differences.
Such as DEC-c does not initialze variables automatically
as VAX-c did. There were very many compile errors.
My knowledge of C falls way short of debugging it.
Is anyone else looking at migrating to the Alpha/VMS
environment? Or many used a different set of flags
for the VEST translation that worked?
Thanks in advance,
